STAGECRAFT TEACHER / TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

Come create with us!

About the Job

Parkview Arts/Science Magnet High School seeks an energetic and knowledgeable Stagecraft Teacher / Technical Director to join our dynamic theatre arts magnet program. The ideal candidate will have a B.A. or higher in Theatre Arts and certification in the area of drama. Candidates should be willing to lead production projects after school while facilitating and maintaining an academically rigorous class load. Applicants should have the skills necessary to teach stagecraft, stage management, and design. The candidate will execute technical aspects of production (design, construction, lighting, sound); collaborate with four other drama specialists as well as faculty from other departments and the larger community on the scheduling and use of a 1,000 seat Performing Arts Center.

About the School

Parkview is an urban high school with many advantages. Here are a few:

 1) The City:  Little Rock is big enough to offer great restaurants and cultural events.  There are even opportunities to pursue your craft as a theatre artist on the side in several community and professional theatre companies;

2) The Schedule: Parkview is on a block schedule which means classes are 1 hour 20 minutes– perfect for projects and this position comes with an extra prep to manage and maintain the PAC as well as prepare and plan for student learning;

3) The Performing Arts Center: We have a well-maintained space with a full shop, fly system, dressing rooms, Strand lighting console, and high quality soundboard. This space is slated for major improvements thanks to a millage passed by the City of Little Rock in 2021;

4) The Team: Faculty collaboration is an essential element of the Parkview theatre program. You will be part of a team of five drama teachers who support and assist each other;  5) The Purpose: If you care about students as well as education and theatre,  working at Parkview gives you an opportunity to feel and see purpose in your work. The Parkview magnet programs represent what is best about public education;

6) The Possibilities: Parkview offers a dynamic theatre program engaged in many innovative and community-engaged productions throughout the year. We welcome a fresh take on our established projects as well as innovation and vision toward future projects.
